Isofetamid is a bicyclic heterocycle that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria in a synergistic effect with zirconium oxide. Isofetamid has also been shown to have a high resistance against cationic surfactants and gene-based antibiotic resistance.
