Beschreibung

Imazosulfuron is an herbicide belonging to the group of sulfonylureas that inhibits the synthesis of fatty acids and proteins in plants. It is a selective herbicide with no activity on graminaceous species. Imazosulfuron has been shown to be synergistic with glycol ethers and other enzyme inhibitors, resulting in higher levels of injury than when it is used alone. Imazosulfuron is applied as a postemergence treatment for control of broad-leaved weeds in soybean crops. It binds to the active site of acetolactate synthase (ALS) and inhibits its function, which prevents the formation of acetohydroxy acid synthase (AHAS). This inhibition leads to reduced levels of acetolactate, which is necessary for production of branched-chain amino acids and essential fatty acids, causing plant death.
