Beschreibung:Iodomethyl pivalate is a synthetic trifluoromethyl derivative of epidermal growth factor (EGF). It is used as a reagent for the detection of EGF in biological fluids. Iodomethyl pivalate reacts with EGF to form a covalent bond and then reacts with sodium carbonate or sodium bicarbonate to form an iodinated product, which can be detected using reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography. This reaction mechanism has been shown to have a detection sensitivity of about 1.0 pg/ml and pharmacokinetic properties that allow for the measurement of EGF in human serum.
