Beschreibung

Isopimaric acid is a physiological compound that is found in the plant Acacia acuminata. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, as well as a sedative effect. Isopimaric acid is an acetylisocupressic acid, which is structurally related to pimaric acid and other diterpenes. This compound has been shown to inhibit the α subunit of the voltage-gated potassium channel in rat brain cells, leading to membrane hyperpolarization and receptor activity. Isopimaric acid also binds to the honeybee propolis receptor with high affinity and can stimulate locomotor activity in rats.
