Isoxsuprine hydrochloride is a low potency vasoactive drug that is used in the treatment of infectious diseases. Isoxsuprine hydrochloride has been shown to have physiological effects such as regulating blood flow, stimulating smooth muscle contraction and dilating coronary arteries. The reaction mechanism of isoxsuprine hydrochloride is similar to that of other monoethyl ethers, which are metabolized by carboxylesterases, making it difficult to detect in the urine. Isoxsuprine hydrochloride has been shown to be effective in treating heart failure due to congestive heart disease and improves long-term efficacy. Isoxsuprine hydrochloride can also be used as an analytical method for measuring potassium dichromate concentration in drinking water.
