• Beschreibung: 1-Iodo-2-methylpropane (1-IMP) is a hypoglycemic agent that is used to treat congestive heart failure, psychosis, and chronic kidney disease. The mechanism of action of 1-IMP is not completely understood. It may act by increasing the metabolic rate, reducing peripheral vascular resistance, or by promoting the release of insulin from the pancreas. 1-IMP has been shown to have an antihypertensive effect in patients with cardiac hypertrophy. It has also been shown to be effective in patients with cirrhosis and asymmetric synthesis. The chemical reactions of 1-IMP are thought to involve hydrolysis and decarboxylation reactions involving its carbonyl group.
