3,4-(2,2-Dimethylpropylenedioxy)thiophene is a new type of polymer that can be used as a coating. It has been shown to have excellent heat resistance and can be used in commercial applications at high temperatures. 3,4-(2,2-Dimethylpropylenedioxy)thiophene is also resistant to corrosion and does not undergo chemical changes even when exposed to oxygen or water. Electropolymerization of 3,4-(2,2-Dimethylpropylenedioxy)thiophene is possible and the resulting polymers are sensitive to functional groups. The morphology and functional groups of these polymers are modulated by the electropolymerization conditions.
