Lilolidine is a synthetic quinoline derivative that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in rats. Lilolidine binds to the chloride, nitrogen and phenoxy groups on the surface of cancer cells, preventing the uptake of these ions. Lilolidine also decreases fatty acid synthesis by inhibiting phospholipase A2 activity, which leads to cell death. This drug also has pharmacokinetic properties, which are determined by its arylation status and lipophilicity.
