Lysine acetylsalicylate - mix with glycine (LA) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that has been shown to have analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory properties. LA is a mixture of lysine acetylsalicylic acid (LASA) and glycine. LA has been shown to be an effective analgesic for abdominal surgery. LA also inhibits the synthesis of eosinophil cationic protein in liver cells. It is important to note that LA has high bioavailability when administered intravenously but low biocompatibility when given orally. In order to improve the bioavailability of LA, it can be mixed with magnesium salt and sodium citrate. The nanoparticulate compositions may also increase the bioavailability of LA because they are more easily absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract than large molecules such as LASA.
