Losartan carboxaldehyde is a potent angiotensin II receptor antagonist that blocks the binding of angiotensin II to its receptors, which are present in many tissues. It has been shown to inhibit thrombus formation in vitro and in vivo, as well as platelet aggregation. Losartan carboxaldehyde is also an effective antiplatelet agent that prevents platelet activation and blood clot formation. This drug's ability to prevent blood clots may be due to its ability to block the release of thromboxane A2 from platelets or by interfering with the synthesis of collagen.
