Beschreibung

Bis-(1,2,2,6,6-pentamethyl-4-piperidinyl)-sebacate is a stabilizer that is used in polymers to prevent oxidative degradation. It is an additive that can be used to improve the light resistance of plastics and rubbers. Bis-(1,2,2,6,6-pentamethyl-4-piperidinyl)-sebacate reacts with peroxide to form a metastable molecule that has a higher molecular weight and increased stability. This reaction occurs at low temperatures and the process can be stopped by adding an antioxidant such as butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT). Bis-(1,2,2,6,6-pentamethyl-4-piperidinyl)-sebacate can also be used as a phase transfer agent for analytical techniques such as gas chromatography or liquid chromatography.
