Lead subacetate ACS also prevents carcinogenesis in animals by preventing phosphotungstic acid from binding to DNA, which prevents the formation of carcinogenic metabolites. It can be used as a substitute for hydrochloric acid or phosphotungstic acid, which are acidic components of cavity preparations, because it has a neutralizing effect on hydrochloric acid.
