Beschreibung:2-Mercaptobenzoxazole (MBX) is a coordination compound with the chemical formula H2NCH2SH. It is a white solid that is soluble in water and organic solvents. MBX has been shown to be an inhibitor of bacterial growth and an antibiotic, as well as an antiinflammatory agent. In one study, 2-mercaptobenzoxazole showed inhibitory properties against human erythrocyte enzyme glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase. In another study, it was found that 2-mercaptobenzoxazole inhibits the phosphokinase activity of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate 3-kinase. This inhibition may be due to its ability to bind with the hydroxyl group on the enzyme's surface or its structural features.
