Beschreibung:
2-Mercaptothiophene is a potent inhibitor of epidermal growth factor (EGF). It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. 2-Mercaptothiophene also has potent inhibitory activity against EGF-induced chloride ion currents and membrane depolarization. 2-Mercaptothiophene binds with fatty acids, glutamate, and amines to form tautomers that are inactive in inhibiting EGF. This drug also inhibits the production of prostaglandins, which may play a role in its anti-inflammatory properties.
