1-(2-Methoxyphenyl)piperazine hydrochloride is a drug that belongs to the class of sulfonamides. It is used in the treatment of bacterial infections, especially those caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The use of 1-(2-Methoxyphenyl)piperazine hydrochloride has been shown to be effective in reducing the symptoms of depression and anxiety and may be useful in the treatment of Parkinson's disease. The drug binds to 5-HT7 receptors, which are expressed on serotonergic neurons, leading to increased levels of serotonin and dopamine.
