4-Methyl-thiazole-5-carboxylic acid is a protein inhibitor that has been investigated for its cytotoxic and antimicrobial properties. It is an effective inhibitor of protein synthesis in cancer cells with the ability to induce apoptosis, which could make it an anticancer agent. 4-Methyl-thiazole-5-carboxylic acid has been shown to inhibit the production of chloride ions in bacterial cells, which may be due to its formyl group.
