Methyl 2,6-difluoronicotinate has been shown to be an effective dopamine D2 receptor antagonist in rats and monkeys. This drug was also able to inhibit the binding of dopamine to the D3 receptor in rat striatal synaptosomes. The regioselectivity of this drug allows for preferential binding at the D2 receptor over other sites such as the D1 or D4 receptors.
