Beschreibung

L-Menthyl D-lactate is a monosodium salt of L-menthol. It is used as a food additive, with the E number E1519. L-Menthyl D-lactate is used in the preparation of fruit extract that is used as a mouthwash and toothpaste. The chemical structure of L-menthyl D-lactate consists of two molecules: one molecule of L-menthol and one molecule of lactic acid. This chemical compound has been shown to inhibit cavity formation in rats by increasing the pH level and inhibiting the activity of cavity inhibitor molecules like histamine.
