Beschreibung

1-[(4-Methylphenyl)sulfonyl]piperidine-4-carboxylic acid is a synthetic intermediate that can be used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals. It is also a promising candidate for use as a catalyst in organic synthesis. The use of 1-[(4-methylphenyl)sulfonyl]piperidine-4-carboxylic acid has been shown to provide high yields, traceless reactions, and excellent functional group tolerance. Organocatalytic methods are used to produce this compound by reaction with chloroacetic acid and phenylmagnesium bromide. The mechanism of this reaction is thought to involve an organocatalytic addition of chloride ion to the carbonyl group followed by deprotonation at the alpha position on the piperidine ring.
