3-Methylquinoxaline-2-carbaldehyde is a synthetic compound that has been used in the synthesis of other drugs. This compound can be oxidized to form 3,4-methylenedioxybenzaldehyde, which can be converted to 3,4-methylenedioxyphenylacetic acid. The oxidation products are monitored using microscopy and kinetics measurements to determine which reaction pathways are occurring. The Wolff-Kishner reduction technique was used for the synthesis of this compound. This chemical has been shown to enhance fluorescence when it is used in cell culture techniques.
