Beschreibung

3-Mercapto-5H-[1,2,4]triazino[5,6-b]indol-5-yl)acetic acid (MTIA) is a drug that blocks the uptake of glucose in cells. It has been shown to be effective in vivo in diabetic patients as well as in animal models of diabetes. MTIA has been shown to inhibit cellular growth and proliferation by affecting transcription factors and signaling pathways involved in cell cycle progression. It has also been found to reduce symptoms of diabetic neuropathy and improve cell survival during oxidative stress. MTIA binds to microglia cells and reduces the production of reactive oxygen species, which may contribute to its anti-inflammatory properties.
