Beschreibung

1-Methoxybutan-2-ol is a colorless liquid with a pleasant odor. It decomposes at temperatures above 50°C and reacts with both acids and bases. 1-Methoxybutan-2-ol has been used as an intermediate in the production of plasticizers, pesticides, and herbicides. It is also used as a chemical intermediate for the manufacture of other chemicals such as butyl acetate, ethyl acetate, methyl propionate, and nonyl propionate. The chemical can be quantified by gas chromatography using an ionization detector or by infrared spectroscopy.
