• Beschreibung: 2-Methylbenzo[d]oxazole-6-carboxylic acid (MBOCA) is a potent and selective antagonist of the histamine H4 receptor, which is expressed in high levels in the central nervous system. MBOCA has been shown to be an inhibitor of the binding of ligands to the H4 receptor, which regulates physiological processes such as gastric acid secretion and allergic inflammation. In vivo studies have demonstrated that MBOCA acts as a potent inhibitor of food intake in rats. This drug also has a high permeability across the blood brain barrier and into cells. The hydrochloride salt form of MBOCA has been shown to have better bioavailability than other salts due to its ability to cross biological membranes more easily.
