Produktinformation
- 2-Furancarboxylic Acid, 4-Bromo-, Methyl Ester
- Methyl 4-bromo-2-furoate
Methyl 4-bromofuran-2-carboxylate is a benzene derivative that has been optimised for furan production. Furan is an aromatic compound that is found in coal tar and can be converted to other compounds, such as pyridine, using the method of Dimethylformamide (DMF). DMF reacts with butyllithium in the presence of methyl 4-bromofuran-2-carboxylate to produce pyridine. DMF is also used to synthesise other organic compounds, such as chloroacetic acid and chloral hydrate. The chloride ion is used as a catalyst during this process. Methyl 4-bromofuran-2-carboxylate has shown cytotoxicity against carcinoma cells through the inhibition of cellular respiration and synthetic methods.
