Methyl 2-(2-bromophenyl)acetate is an organic compound that is used for the synthesis of peptidomimetics. It belongs to the class of tribromides, which are compounds that contain three bromine atoms. The catalytic mechanism of this compound is believed to be similar to that of other lipases. Methyl 2-(2-bromophenyl)acetate has been shown to react with ethylene and zinc powder in a cross-coupling reaction, producing phenylacetone. This reaction also produces heterocycles, such as transesterification reactions and aldehydes.
