Produktinformation
5’-C-methyladenosine is a nucleoside that is found in the human pathogen Borrelia burgdorferi and other bacteria. It is synthesized from guanosine by methylation of the C5 position of the sugar moiety. The biosynthesis is catalyzed by an enzyme called nucleoside phosphorylase (NAP). 5’-C-methyladenosine has been shown to be active against human tumor cells, but not normal cells. 5’-C-methyladenosine has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
