- 5-Nitro-6-Methyl-2-Pyridinecarboxylic Acid
2-Methyl-3-nitropyridine-6-carboxylic acid is an intermediate in the synthesis of nitropyridine, a fluorimetric substrate. It is used as a reagent for the determination of oxidase activity. 2-Methyl-3-nitropyridine-6-carboxylic acid has been shown to inhibit hydrazine formation and monoamine oxidation in rat liver mitochondria. This activity also leads to increased levels of phenacyl, which is used as an indicator of mitochondrial function.
