6-Methoxy-1H-indazole (6MI) is an inhibitor of the enzyme tyrosine hydroxylase, which is responsible for the conversion of tyrosine to L-DOPA. It also has neuroprotective properties. 6MI has been shown to be neuroprotective in a number of different animal models and has been found to be a potent inhibitor of mao-a. 6MI may have potential as a therapeutic agent for Parkinson's disease due to its neuroprotective properties and interaction with mao-a.
