• Beschreibung: DL-Malic acid is a pharma grade sodium salt of malic acid. It is used as a nutrient in the production of antibiotics, and to control the pH of media for culturing bacteria. DL-Malic acid has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against gram positive bacteria, such as Streptococcus pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus. The mechanism by which DL-malic acid exerts its antimicrobial activity may be due to its ability to inhibit enzyme activities in these bacteria. DL-Malic acid also has potent antitumor activity against various cancer cell lines in vivo models, including human melanoma cells.
