3-Methylthiophen-2-yl)methanol is a metalloporphyrin that has been shown to inhibit the reuptake of dopamine. This drug is structurally similar to tiagabine, which is an inhibitor of GABA reuptake. 3-Methylthiophen-2-yl)methanol inhibits the uptake of dopamine in rats and also has anti-inflammatory properties. The human metabolites of this drug have not been characterized.
