1-Methyl-1H-imidazol-4-amine is a nitro compound that is soluble in formic acid and insoluble in water. It has a molecular weight of 101.11 and a melting point of -2°C. This molecule can be used to synthesize amides, which are often used as solvents or high yield products. 1-Methyl-1H-imidazol-4-amine has been shown to stabilize imidazole rings, which are found in heterocycles such as purines and pyrimidines. The molecule has also been shown to have antihistamine effects and may be able to help women during their menstrual cycle by decreasing the release of histamine from mast cells.
