Beschreibung:Milbemectin A3 is a macrolide antibiotic that belongs to the group of milbemycins. It is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in vivo to moxidectin, its active form. Milbemectin A3 has been shown to be effective against wild-type strains of c. glabrata and anthelmintic drug-resistant strains of c. elegans, as well as some other parasites such as Toxocara canis and Toxascaris leonina. Milbemectin A3 has also been shown to cause liver lesions at high doses in rats, although it does not have any toxic effects on the heart or lungs. Milbemectin A3 binds to drug transporter proteins, which leads to an increase in the concentration of this drug at the site of infection, making it more effective at killing parasites.
