Beschreibung

1-(Methyldithiocarbonyl)imidazole is a synthetic, biologically active compound that has been shown to have anticancer activity. It is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme aconitase, which is involved in the Krebs cycle and electron transport chain. 1-(Methyldithiocarbonyl)imidazole can also induce apoptosis through the activation of caspases, which are proteolytic enzymes involved in cell death. This compound has been found to be more effective on tumour cells than on healthy cells. The anticancer activity of 1-(methyldithiocarbonyl)imidazole may be due to its ability to cause DNA fragmentation and inhibit DNA synthesis, leading to cell death.
