Beschreibung

Methyl arsonic acid disodium salt is a phosphate-type enzyme inhibitor that inhibits ATPase and phosphorylases. This salt is a white crystalline compound with a molecular weight of 587.3 and a melting point of about 190°C. Methyl arsonic acid disodium salt is used as an experimental model for studying the effects of picolinic acid on hepatic tissues, and has been shown to have carcinogenic potential in animal studies. Methyl arsonic acid disodium salt has also been shown to inhibit mitochondrial membrane potential in mitochondria isolated from rat liver tissue, which may be due to its ability to bind to ryanodine receptors. The binding of this compound to these receptors leads to the inhibition of calcium release, which can lead to cell death. Methyl arsonic acid disodium salt is soluble in water and methanol, but insoluble in ethanol or acetone. It is also not soluble in hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide solutions
