• Beschreibung: 5-Methyl-2,3-hexanedione is a chemical compound that has been shown to be effective against avian influenza and the influenza virus. 5-Methyl-2,3-hexanedione inhibits the growth of influenza viruses by binding to the virus particles and preventing them from attaching to cells in the respiratory tract. This chemical also prevents the release of infectious viral particles from infected cells. The rate of encapsulation was determined by measuring the amount of 5-methyl-2,3-hexanedione that was adsorbed onto tylosin particles in a plate test. The encapsulation rate is greater than 80%. 5-Methyl-2,3-hexanedione has also been shown to inhibit tylosin resistance in vitro.
