• Beschreibung: 3-Methylcyclopropene is a cyclopropenylmethyl-substituted cyclopropene. It is a synthetic compound that has been shown to inhibit ethylene biosynthesis in plants. 3-Methylcyclopropene inhibits the conversion of acetate to ethylene via two possible mechanisms: (1) by cleaving the C-C bond between methyl and carbonyl groups, which may be responsible for inhibiting the formation of acetyl-CoA, or (2) by binding to the substrate site on ACC synthase and inhibiting its activity. 3-Methylcyclopropene has also been shown to reduce ethylene production in pisum sativum explants.
