It has been shown to have antitumor activity in lymphocytic leukemia cells and human breast cancer cells, MDA-MB-231, through inhibition of the enzyme phosphotriesterase (PTE). OMSH inhibits the PTE enzyme by binding to the phosphate group from ATP, which is required for PTE activation. This inhibition leads to reduced protein synthesis and cell death due to apoptosis.
