• Beschreibung: 6-Methoxy-2-naphthaleneacetic acid (6-MNA) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that is used to treat patients with chronic pain. 6-MNA has been shown to be an effective treatment for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. It inhibits the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase, which is responsible for the conversion of arachidonic acid to these mediators. 6-MNA can also inhibit the activity of α1-acid glycoprotein and increase the activity of human serum albumin, which may contribute to its antiinflammatory effect. 6-MNA has several side effects including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain. These adverse reactions are caused by inhibition of protein synthesis in the stomach lining, which leads to decreased production of mucus and bicarbonate ions.
