Beschreibung

4-Methoxyphenylacetone is an amine that has potent antibacterial activity and has been shown to be active against gram-positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus. It also inhibits oxidative DNA damage by catalysis and is chemically stable. 4-Methoxyphenylacetone is used in the asymmetric synthesis of a number of compounds, including drugs for the treatment of tuberculosis. The reaction mechanism for this compound is not well understood, but it is thought that it may be due to acidic conditions or the formation of radical intermediates.
