Beschreibung

6-Methyl-2-oxo-4-phenyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-pyrimidine-5-carboxylic acid, ethyl ester is a procyanidin that has been shown to inhibit the replication of microorganisms by binding to the enzyme surface. It inhibits the production of nitric oxide and hydrogen peroxide in bacteria by preventing the formation of an acid complex with copper ions. This compound also has an antiplaque effect on dental plaque and can be used as a mouthwash or toothpaste additive.
