Beschreibung

4-[2-(5-Methyl-2-phenyloxazol-4-yl)ethoxy]benzaldehyde is a hypolipemic agent that acts as an agonist at the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α (PPARα). It has been shown to be effective in lowering blood glucose levels in animal models of type 2 diabetes. This compound binds to PPARα, which is expressed in the liver and adipose tissue. 4-[2-(5-Methyl-2-phenyloxazol-4-yl)ethoxy]benzaldehyde has been shown to have hypoglycemic effects by increasing the expression of genes that are involved in lipid metabolism and glucose uptake.
The mechanism of action for this compound is not completely understood but it may be related to its formyl group, which could act as a substrate for cyclization reactions.
