Mosapride N-oxide is a chemical compound that is an active metabolite of mosapride citrate. It is a substance that has magnetic properties and can be detected using high-performance liquid chromatography. Mosapride N-oxide is the product of the oxidation of mosapride by cytochrome P450 enzymes in the liver, which are also responsible for its metabolism. Mosapride N-oxide has been found to have a higher metabolic rate than mosapride citrate in rats. The chemical structure of mosapride N-oxide consists of one hydroxy group, one oxo group, and one amine group. This substance has been detected in monkeys and humans. Mosapride N-oxide may be glucuronidated before it enters the urine as a product ion with a molecular weight of 268 Da.
