- 5-Methyl-6,7-dihydro-5H-cyclopenta(b)pyrazine
5-Methyl-6,7-dihydrocyclopentapyrazine is a molecule that has been shown to inhibit platelet activation and aggregation. It also has bronchodilatory effects and can be used as a contraceptive. 5-Methyl-6,7-dihydrocyclopentapyrazine has been shown to act as an antagonist at the P2Y12 receptor, which is involved in platelet aggregation. This drug may be detectable in blood or urine by mass spectrometry techniques for its volatile compounds. 5-Methyl-6,7-dihydrocyclopentapyrazine also inhibits the infarction of the heart following coronary artery occlusion and pulmonary embolism. The drug is not active against respiratory diseases such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
