• Beschreibung: 2-Methyl-2-thiazoline (MTZ) is a colorless, volatile liquid with a mild, sweet odor. It is used in the manufacture of resins and pesticides. MTZ has been shown to have potent genotoxic effects in Sprague-Dawley rats and wild-type mice. MTZ causes DNA damage through its ability to react with chloride ions to form reactive species that can bind to DNA bases. These reactive species are also able to bind to metal ions such as iron and copper, which are present in high concentrations in cells during periods of oxidative stress. MTZ is also an irritant that can cause skin irritation, allergic reactions, and respiratory tract irritation.
