Beschreibung

2-Mercapto-4-methylpyrimidine hydrochloride (2MP) is a chemical compound with a molecular weight of 172.19. It is an inhibitor of the enzyme cgmp-dependent protein kinase, which is involved in the production of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). 2MP has been shown to inhibit the interaction between the enzyme and its substrate, which prevents the production of cGMP and leads to cell death. This inhibition activity can be measured by calibrating the inhibition with known concentrations of 2MP. The mechanism of this reaction is thought to be similar to that observed for other imidazole derivatives, thiolates, and thioureas. The spectral data obtained from nmr spectra show that this compound is hydrophobic and it reacts quickly with formyl or ligands such as mercaptoethanol or sodium methoxide.
