The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy showed that 2-mercaptothiazoline forms tetranuclear complexes when dissolved in an electrolyte solution. X-ray crystal structures show that 2-mercaptothiazoline binds to the phosphate groups on DNA and inhibits the enzymatic activity at these sites.
