• Beschreibung: Mesosulfuron-methyl is a herbicide that inhibits the activity of enzymes in plants, specifically phosphatase and esterases. It has been shown to be effective against perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) in vitro at optimum concentrations, but it is not active against Triticum aestivum. Mesosulfuron-methyl binds to the phosphatase enzyme and blocks its activity, preventing the production of three metabolites of acetyl CoA that are needed for protein synthesis. This inhibition leads to a decrease in dry weight and an increase in protein content. Furthermore, mesosulfuron-methyl has been shown to interact synergistically with piperonyl butoxide when applied together to Triticum aestivum. Mesosulfuron-methyl also has a liquid chromatography method that can identify its presence in plant material.
