Mangostanol is a naturally occurring compound that has been identified as one of the main active ingredients of Garcinia mangostana. It has been shown to have various biological properties, including antioxidant and anti-cancer effects. Mangostanol inhibits the activation of p65, which is a transcription factor involved in cell signaling pathways that leads to inflammatory responses and cancer. Mangostanol also inhibits the activity of enzymes involved in lipid metabolism, such as acetyl-CoA carboxylase and HMG-CoA reductase, which are key enzymes in fatty acid synthesis. Mangostanol also binds to the prostate cancer receptor and may inhibit the development of prostate cancer cells by blocking these receptors.
