2-Methanesulfonyl-4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine is an organic molecule that has been used as a pesticide. It is also used to synthesize ambrisentan, which is a drug for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension. 2-Methanesulfonyl-4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine can be synthesized by a chromatographic method using an organic solvent and reactants such as anilines. This reaction occurs in acidic conditions with monitoring by spectrophotometry or HPLC. The product has shown to be effective against human urine bacteria and may be useful in the development of antibiotics.
