Produktinformation
- Methyl trans-Pentenoic Acid
- methyl (3E)-pent-3-enoate
Methyl (E)-3-pentenoate is a catalytic reagent that reacts with a variety of phosphines. It has a vapor pressure of 0.0012 mmHg at 25°C, and can be protonated to form the methyl pentanoate anion. This reagent is used in organic synthesis to create nucleophiles and carbonyl groups. Methyl (E)-3-pentenoate has also been shown to act as a ligand for metal ions, such as copper and nickel, which are important in catalysis. The parameters governing this process include steric hindrance, hydrogen bonding, solvation energies, and reactivity of the functional groups. Mechanistic studies have been performed using formic acid as the substrate to show how it reacts with methyl (E)-3-pentenoate to produce methyl pentanoate.
